Furthermore, etc.

From a technical side of the blog - I heard some of my family had problems posting comments.  If anyone experiences difficulties posting on the blog, drop me an email, and I'll see if I can figure out why.  I heard a rumour you may have to view the preview before you submit a comment, but haven't checked into that yet.

Obey. Consume. Stay asleep.

As I was people-watching at Kerbey Lane tonight, the thought occurred to me:  Everybody says they are searching for "the right somebody" to complete their life, somebody to love, somebody for them to love.  But from what I observed tonight, people don't appear to be searching so much for someone who will love them, but rather someone they can be comfortable around.  That is, they want someone who will "accept them for who they are", and tell them how beautiful, smart or accomplished they are.  In addition to someone who will make them look good, whether by way of money, good looks or a cool car.

But wouldn't someone who really loved you be someone who would accept you for who you are, tell you your strengths, talents, then just as honestly, your weaknesses and faults, and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and onward to become more than even you imagined?  Someone who sees what you could be, then do all they can to help you become that?

Only goes to show how lazy we are, and how much we crave anything that will keep us asleep, and comfortable.

Also, on a totally unrelated note:  this is just fantastic - I shared it on Facebook, but for those of you who don't like to deal w/ the previously mentioned internet monster, here it is.

A small beginning

I realize there are far too many blogs out there to possibly keep up with, and it's unlikely that I'm going to find much to say that hasn't already been said. But this will give me a place to practice vocalizing my opinion, and honing my writing style, so here I am.

I'm not sure how often I'll update...I used to post notes, or blog, if you will, on Facebook, before it became "game central", and communication with friends became an electronic "poking", giving virtual presents, or begging friends to contribute to their various causes. I always thought a web site meant to keep up with friends would be more communication based, but once again, I underestimated the laziness, decreasing intelligence, and short attention span of the general populace. Kind of sad, actually. Anyways, I'll update whenever I have something to say, I suppose.

So to the blogging community - Hail, and well met!
